Frequently asked questions

Which directory do I need?

It depends which tier of the market you are approaching. If you are a company raising a round, use the venture capital directory and private equity directory of investment firms. If you need a lawyer, accountant, banker or consultant for the raise, use the advisor directory. If you are a fund manager raising a fund rather than a company raising a round, use the directory of limited partners.

What is the difference between a venture capital directory and a directory of limited partners?

A venture capital directory lists the firms that invest in operating companies — the general partners. A directory of limited partners lists the institutions that supply capital to those firms, such as pension funds, endowments and funds of funds. Money flows from limited partners to venture capital firms to companies, and the two directories sit at different points in that chain.

Are the directories free to use?

Yes. All three directories are free to browse and read in full, with no registration, account or payment required. Firms pay to appear in the investor and advisor directories; readers never pay to read.

What is the difference between the directories and the VCPro Database?

The directories are free browsable web listings you read page by page. The VCPro Database is a paid searchable dataset you filter and export: 7,670+ venture capital and private equity firm profiles with 55,650+ executive email addresses, filterable by stage, industry, geography and investment size, working offline on Windows and macOS for a one-time $119.95.

What information does a venture capital firm listing include?

Each investor listing identifies the firm and its type, then sets out the criteria that determine fit: financing types offered, stage preferences, geographic preferences, industry and vertical preferences, and the investment size range the firm will consider, together with contact details where supplied.

How do I list my firm in a directory?

Venture capital firms, private equity firms, advisors and service providers can post a profile for $29.95 per six months. A listing widens inbound deal flow and sends referral traffic to the firm’s own website. Limited partner entries are editorial and are not sold.

Also on vcaonline.com: venture capital and private equity news, the VC glossary, and the VCPro Database.
