Artiman Ventures Grows Executive Team with Appointment of New Managing Director
Brian Wilcove Brings Enterprise Expertise to Leading White Space Investment Firm
PALO ALTO, Calif., February 4, 2014-- Artiman Ventures, the leading white space venture capital firm, today announced the appointment of enterprise technology expert Brian Wilcove as a Managing Director. Joining the firm after a successful track record as a founder, senior executive, investor and board member, Wilcove will concentrate on identifying, investing and helping grow early stage enterprise technology companies with the potential to disrupt existing multibillion dollar markets or create entirely new ones.
Wilcove brings 19 years of experience in technology, marketing and business development, including more than 12 years in venture capital investing at Sofinnova Ventures and TeleSoft Partners. His representative investments include ConteXtream, Enovix, Guavus and KXEN (acquired by SAP), LogLogic (acquired by Tibco) and Tele Atlas (acquired by TomTom).
“We’re thrilled to have Brian join Artiman Ventures and become a vital contributor to our entrepreneurship team as we continue building enterprise technology companies that bring lasting value to sectors where innovation is stagnant,” said Yatin Mundkur, Managing Director at Artiman who focuses on early-stage technology and medtech investments. “His ability to acutely evaluate and nurture complex enterprise startups is a critical asset that will help continue differentiating our investment strategy, ultimately helping bring stronger technology solutions to diverse markets.”
Prior to focusing on investing, Wilcove co-founded Virtela, a cloud networking company that was acquired by NTT in 2013. He also created, launched and managed the Internet product portfolio for Qwest Communications (now CenturyLink), growing the business from zero to several hundred million dollars of annual revenue.
“I am thrilled to join Artiman Ventures, a firm that has done a terrific job of differentiating itself in the industry with its trans-disciplinary approach to investing,” said Wilcove. “Together with the other partners, I look forward to evolving the creativity and ingenuity of entrepreneurs I work with to expand the view of what is possible with technology.”
